I just lost a bunch of Strava KOMs today... It felt like I lost a race or something. Silly Strava... making a computer game out of riding your bike.
About a year ago, I realized I hadn't gotten any faster in a while. I'd been chasing Strava segments like they meant something important. I had to get back to my roots. Training went back to the heart rate monitor and pounding out the miles. Something remarkable happened... it worked! I got faster and posted some of my best times on... Strava segments. That and a TT State Championship.
So when I lose 7 or 8 segment KOMs in a week, it's a bit of a shock. I guess it means some people are actually training again.
